Siwash Report post Posted July 16, 2013 Anyone played with this pack yet? Bull Basin has one in Tucson and it looks like a great pack for hauling meat or just gear without being too ridiculous in size for a day hunting pack. I like the looks of the external frame for hauling meat too. Curious if anyone has tried one in the field.
8OWHUNT247 Report post Posted July 16, 2013 Friend of mine has one.. What a great pack..... Once you you add the spike camp duffle, you can really load it down..
mklong40 Report post Posted July 16, 2013 I just purchased one and though I have not had it in the field, my first impressions are......awesome!! I want a pack good for a day or two overnight and enough room to haul something out. Yet, not too big where I cannot throw my water and binos in for a hike. The padding and comfort is great. One of the better packs I have purchased....Ive been through a few the last few years and seem to either sale them or return them....this one looks like a keeper. rcdinaz Report post Posted July 16, 2013 I was looking at the X2 for a smaller pack and an archery pack but I think I like the Elk pack even better. I have a dragonfly and an X2 this would fit nicely right between them. It still has room for a big spotter and tripod which starts to limit the room left in the X1. Only downside it is a little on the heavy side like most Eberle packs.
Siwash Report post Posted July 16, 2013 Thanks for the input guys. Only downside it is a little on the heavy side like most Eberle packs. Yep, this gives me pause too, but I willing to accept it. My "light" Badlands 2800 really cannot handle anything more than a javelina and my gear and in 4 seasons I've busted the buckles on it twice and the zippers are starting to fail. I just don't have confidence to take it elk hunting this season.
DesertBull Report post Posted July 17, 2013 My next pack will be the x3 lodrag because it has the scabbard built in. It's great for packing the tripod while scouting and the gun while hunting. I have the J34 now put it has seen better days. It's a little too heavyIMO but packs a lot of meat and compresses down to daypack size.
rcdinaz Report post Posted July 17, 2013 I have the X1 which is basically the X3 minus the oversized scabbard. I think you will be wanting for more room, it is a great pack but I dont see being able to get much of an animal in it for packing out. The Team Elk also has the scabbard and an integrated bow holder which has to be added on the others, if you need one. No wrong choice just pointing out some of the differences.
rcdinaz Report post Posted July 17, 2013 Do we ever have goup buys on the forum? I would think there would be 5-10 guys that would buy a pack at the same time if we could save a little money. Just curious, some sites have them ongoing all the time.
