Bill Poole Report post Posted October 1, 2006 I'd not be inclined to use such light bullets as the barrels have a twist for heavy bullets and that's what makes that caliber shine. I shot my only Coues deer with a 70 featherweight in 6.5 and 140 factory winchester I usually load 140 for that round, some 160's, havent shot anything else other than water jugs if you want to load lighter rounds for varmit calling.... perhaps you now have an excuse to buy a new rifle Poole
the breeze Report post Posted October 5, 2006 first off I have to say that my 6.5 rules! you might try out a few bullets from a couple reloaders and see how it goes first so here are a few links. these reloaders will work up the load to it's potential. the factory rounds are wimpy because they don't want to get in trouble if someones vintage swedish mouser from ww2 blows up. I used this guy to work up a load that is so accurate it is scary! honest .5 inch groups out of a encore with a custom heavy barrel. I am shooting 129 grain hornady sst's at 2620fps. try this link: http://www.johnsonsprecisionreloading.com/price/ another reloader that I had good luck with and the price is more reasonable is: http://www.thehuntingshack.com/ good luck!
