ryno Report post Posted September 28, 2006 My brother and I were lucky enough to draw a coues tag for the second season in this unit. We have been doing our research and everyone keeps pointing us to the Gila. What about hunting the BLM lands north of Demming? Is this option worth considering? Kevin Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Probably not. There are a few coues in the Cook's peak range but they are few and far between from what I have seen. There is a reason people are steering you towards the Gila. Good luck on your hunt. Kevin
CouesSlayer Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Kevin would be right about that Cook's Peak is the only place I would remotely give consideration other than the Gila.
ryno Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Kevin and CouesSlayer thanks for the info. I wasn't doubting what I've been told. I was just curious about the biggest part of this unit. Ryan
couestaxi Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Hunted the Cook's peak area hard last year with a backpack on! Some good mule deer but no Coues. Looks like great country for them though. Moved back north of Silver around PA and did much better. Good luck
