coues7 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 I have never done a spring archery only hunt, but have done a spring bear hunt. They are just coming out of hibernation (so to say....bears DO hibernate in AZ) and they are tuffer to find. I would assume calling would work. I was unsuccessful on my spring bear a few years ago. I bet dogs would be your best bet. Tree them then shoot um' with a stick. Ask TAM about going out with Josh Epperson. In my opinion he would be your best bet for having dogs run. TREESTANDMAN Report post Posted September 27, 2006 Unfortunately dogs are not permitted on the spring hunt. I had a spring bear archery only hunt this year and was about 60 yds from a BIG boar. Unfortunately he could had seen me moving in my treestand and was mad. I watched him rough up a big manzanita bush while growling. I never had a clear shot. The spring hunt is tough but possible.
