Rye bikes

If you've driven SR87 north, you've seen all the bikes at Rye. Well......they all burned up last night!

Sorry for the people that lost property in the fire, what a junk yard! Hope they clean it up, don't know what will be worse, the eyesore for the last 25 years of all the rusted bikes or the burnt bikes.

We drove up this morning at 3:30am and the place was ablaze! When we came back by this afternoon everything was destroyed. Got to say I am going to miss that place.

It was a cool place but only thing that I remember is that they tried to rip us off on price for some parts. Hope it gets cleaned up!

That place was a gold mine. Had all kinds of weird parts for about anything on two wheels. It may have been junk but not inexpensive. Too bad.

I've never seen it nor do i know what the "eyesore" was, and I don't know what or how the fire started. I'm guessing if this was a junk yard it was legal?? Why are you folks putting this guy down for collecting "junk"? I bet he made a living off of it from people who needed what he had. I feel bad for his loss as well as the people around him.

I wonder how long it had been there, I never remember it not being there. Me and my Dad stopped twice and everything we asked about wasnt for sale or was way way too high priced. A lot of neat stuff just rusting away. Scrap metal now!

That guy was more of a collector than a seller. He had one of everything, and his prices were sky high because he could give 2 turds if you bought it or not. He would rather that you didn't. I

looks like your memory serves you well... mine, not so much. I couldn't for the life of me remember when I first seen it. I can remember the 2 lane highway through sunflower and how it kinda reminded me of top of the world. I remember when you hit the last big hill ( RYE ) you are almost to Payson! The 260 cafe was a single wide trailer with monster burgers! One day I ate 2... I was like 9 yrs old.. LOL! Just couldn't remember when the bikes showed up...

i first noticed in 1983. he had a couple of stolen bikes that were mine. don't mean to be disrespectful but he was a real jerk. so long

I thought that was a cool place. Lots of old antique type bikes. Kind of a land mark. My brother sold that guy a bike back in like 1992 I remember he was a burley Grizzly Adams looking dude. Someone will make some $$ on the scrap metal.

I pass rye almost every weekend. Had no idea it went up in flames till a day or 2 later and saw all the news vans and sherrifs outside of it. The back part was still smoldering but most of his "invatory" was still good.
