Saw bits and pieces of the show. Anyone who does that has serious sanity issues. Plus the guy has kids. Don't see how he can put his family through that every time he pulls one of these stunts.

Well, he pulled it off. Whether your married and in the military over in combat or an Indy Car Driver some people are just driven. Heck he probably thinks someone who varmint calls bears with a bow has a death wish.

You know, they say we only go around once and this ain't no dress rehersal.

One thing for sure, we are all going to die. Some fear it, others put a price tag on it, enter history and create memories.

You know many, many years ago when I moved here from NY I met a an opinioned hot headed guy that did some crazy stuff on motorcycles. We would run across each other once in a while and shoot the breeze, talk about the war and women but never about why.

One day out of the blue, he just looked at me and said I do it because it feeds me, it's my monster and only I can tame it.

That stunt seriously impressed me.....I don't know how anyone can control their mind that well to just walk out there and deal with the fear and as he said the "very confusing optical illusion" that came from the rope/pendulums and canyon walls. Plus the winds, I mean, wow, that takes some serious concentration and faith. WOW!

If anyone is interested, there is a pretty neat documentary about another tight rope walker that walked between the twin towers in NYC many years ago. I think it's called Man on a Wire and Netflix has it online. Apparently that same tight rope walker planned to walk this same canyon, but ran out of funding and didn't go through with it....

guys I used to hang around base jump in that canyon...... north of the view site there is an island cliff that's over 1500 ft.

the first time was about 1989!

some do it and hike out and some pitch in and rent a helicopter and make multiple jumps in a day.

there was also a European deodorant commercial made there and they paid him $50,000 for the jumps and they paid the guy that was the "technical adviser $10,000

although far from walking the tight rope still very cool!

they shot Wallenda down for the NYC gig so maybe he can go to Yosemite or somewhere cool...
