bowhuntaz1 Report post Posted June 23, 2013 Even though the forest belongs to everyone, ( ha ha ha I cant believe I just said that) I would find another location to hang my camera if one was already there. Just my $.
AZLance Report post Posted June 23, 2013 Many guys have 15+ cameras out, so just like a guy who hangs 15 tree stands... There is no way he can hunt every one every day, so go ahead. Maybe leve a note on the back of his cam and leave your phone number.
123456 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 As long as you leave a cam and do not take a cam, I see no problem with it. Just because a guy has a cam on a waterhole, does not mean he is the only one who gets to see what hits it. Leaving a note is a good idea.
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Growing up in a small town and never having to worry about cameras or anything else I decided to leave in the woods til I returned, I'd say put it up, hope the guy with the other one is upstanding and doesn't mess with it. Now.... Since I moved around the Tucson hunting units (and all units have become more popular with a holes) is say hide the dang thing on the best trail going to the water, sit the hill tops around it as much as you can to catch activity and become very wary of everyone. I hate to say that cause I've met some good upstanding folks who lived their entire lives in a city and were hunters but, I've met alot more who weren't and would steal you blind if they had the chance. Setting a camera is a casino game, I've never had one stolen but I can only get a black jack so many hands before I bust.
Sneaker Report post Posted June 24, 2013 If you have ever hunted the strip, you would know the answer is no, it is not bad ethics lol. Every water has multiple cams up there when season gets close. I think the ethics of the area come into play when "who gets to hunt it" comes up. Should you yield to a letter (or have a strong case for writing one)before the season saying someone will be hunting there on the opener? Should you yield to a sign on the nearest road stating that a hunter is on water, please be considerate? Or should you play the letter of the law and just show up as early as possible to call the early bird gets the worm card?
