Gov. shoots down forest travel management plan

Recommended Posts

Here's an article I just read that says she signed the bill that would nix the feds plan for limiting forest travel. Seems like they won't enforce it. I know AZGFD was against it as well. It's a step in the right direction.

Good to see this is finally passed. I agree that some roads should be closed but the FS plans are way to extreme to accommodate the ever growing OHV community. Moderation is the key.

Sad day for those who enjoy nature as it was intended, I think all 4 digit fr should be closed myself but that's just me so I am bummed but congrats to those who need or like to sit on their motorized couches and plow through the world.

While the "ever growing OHV community" isn't completely blameless the ease at which the smaller sized vehicles can access areas a that jeep or truck cannot creating new paths that eventually have become roads has contributed immensely to where we are now (IMHO) and the NFS Plan.

I'm not throwing the OHV'ers under the buss but this has been coming for a very long.

We just need to use some common sense before it all gets locked up.

AZ is covered up in designated Wilderness, use it.

For decades, access to public land has steadily been limited by the feds. Bit by bit, piece by piece, a road here & there. This new state law does not mean much. Feds will still enforce their TMP. Feds are all about control. They'll be waiting to pick our pockets.

With only 5 law enforcement in all of northern az, they aren't enforcing it everyone is camping wherever they want and driving

all the roads, there is a toy hauler by my house that has been there for over 50 days on a main road.another trailer, one mile away they have been there over 30 days unless you camp around happy jack where all the valley camps I don't think you will see any of them out and about.

You are probably right but..........

I try not to break our nations laws. I'll try and abide by the TMP's of our various forests even though I believe they are mean spirited and arbitrary. Especially the 30' rule, I've got a problem with the haters that came up with that rule. Retrieving elk meat in the September hunt is another issue. Also, many old timers likely will never see some of their old haunts with the new/ongoing closures. GRRRRR

I spend time in both Prescott and Kaibab NF's. Never seen a Prescott NF vehicle where I go. Almost everytime I go out I see Kaibab guys. Then again I see camps all over the place in the Williams district. IMO they are only concerned with harrassing hunters.
