dusty Report post Posted June 17, 2013 Thanks for your comments, the Commission at their recent meeting on Saturday June 15th in Payson determined they will not be pursuing a Premium Structure at this time based off the public comment. Your other comments will be passed along. Just got this email from the G@F. One of my comments -- I have been hunting in AZ. for over 50 yrs.I realize you need to fund your life style the way you want.Hunting wasnt a rich mans sport when I was young but has become so.
Justin Stahl Report post Posted June 18, 2013 Ya it sure has! My comment was if they are going to have a Premium hunt then it needs to be one. i wouldn't mind it if they lowered the dec. hunt tags in some units if they were going to charge that kind of money for a tag! Where is all the money going to go also? Is it going into the game or are they just all getting a raise?
az_shooter Report post Posted June 21, 2013 I'm all for them raising the price for premium hunts. I'm surprised they have stayed the same and the general hunts all these years. It's pretty much the same system they use in New Mexico and it seems to work just fine.
My Rights As An American Report post Posted July 1, 2013 IMHO, I am impressed that AGF actually listened to the feedback from the field and scrapped the "premium hunts" structure. Not sure people were convinced by the plan that these would be premium hunts. As for the current plan, the one that I saw was actually quite reasonable with some really nice highlights including the youth hunt license price drop. I am still quite a few years away from taking advantage of that, but I sure do appreciate the long-term thinking associated with establishing a strong base of hunters for the future. I think that over time, the old prices were simply increasing across the board too much for many families to participate in all the hunts. Dropping the youth fees sure goes a long way to balancing that back out to keep the interest with the youth. Kudos to AGF for listening to the field and responding appropriately, IMHO. It may never be the perfect fee structure for everyone, but this sure goes a long way to balancing things out for everyone!
DCMHunter Report post Posted July 2, 2013 They didn't aprove because they figgured after increasing the tag numbers as they did this last year it is no longer a perferred hunt let alone a premium hunt DCM
