understanding the draw process

Recommended Posts

These were my choices below. Ever since this happened I treat my 3rd choice as my second choice when I put in. Maybe it was a fluke or something that it happened.

Correct no harm because I drew a 36b tag, but I am still trying to understand the draw process.

1st choice was 23 Oct WT,

2nd choice was 36A Oct WT,

3rd choice was 36B Oct WT,

4th choice was 29 WT,

5th choice was 22 Wt

If you are trying to figure out the odds or get a grasp of how to predict it, I've got nothing for you.

It's a lottery - luck of the draw. Some things my sway the odds one way or another, but in the end, it's just the "luck of the draw".

I've heard of one guy who drew 13B one year and 13A the next. I personally know a guy who has 18 or 19 points for elk and is still waiting for his first choice hunt (3a/c rifle). Personally, I drew 24A December (15% odds back then) 4 out of 5 years. I drew unit 1 MZ and archery bull tags in the rut back-to-back, then a 13B strip tag with only 4 bonus points. Some guys I know have been putting in for the strip and have 17, 19 or more points.

At this point, if I have a dry spell and don't draw squat for 10 years or more, I won't be bitter at all.

Toss your name in the hat, and when your time comes, you get to go hunt.
