Red Rabbit Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Over 70 illegal campfires http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/asnf/news-events/?cid=STELPRDB5422177 Some people (70+) need to buy a dog and name it "Clue." Then they will have one.

AZ8 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Frustrating to say the least. I was driving south on SR87 very early morning on Memorial Day. Just north of Clint's Well, I saw a camp a ways in with a roaring campfire! That was the only campfire I actually saw, but witnessed many "campfire smoke signals" rising above the trees throughout my drive south. People are clueless! ThomC Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Down south most if not all fires are started by illegals. Reported cause unknown. Another reason to secure the border. Mexico may be our neighbor but not our friend.
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted June 4, 2013 I saw this article as well and wondered where everybody was when the sky was filled with smoke 2 summers ago.........no respect for the forest......and there are plenty of signs posted along the highway........ Elkaddict Report post Posted June 4, 2013 How much is a citation? I reported an illegal fire last week in the coconino, in the juniper/pine mix area. Very dry up here! Also woke to smoke in the area on Sunday morning, heard it was a fire by Blue Ridge.
rossislider Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Fines need to be sever enough to make it not worth tbe risk. I also wouldn't mind seeing a hotline for reporting such fires.
ultramag Report post Posted June 5, 2013 I predict in the next few years we won't have fire restrictions we will have forest open and forest closed times. We smelled campfire smoke Memorial Day weekend as well. It's really sad people don't think the law apply to them, like they are above the law.
AZbowhntr Report post Posted June 5, 2013 My question is what does 'In most cases, campers complied' mean? Most of them probably don't have a clue that it is against the law. But it should be common sense. And they probably passed more than a few signs on the way there.
AZLance Report post Posted June 5, 2013 I had a fire every night this weekend, not sure what all the hype is... Left my fires cold and wet when we were done
AZ8 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 I had a fire every night this weekend, not sure what all the hype is... Left my fires cold and wet when we were done Pretty cut and dry. Stage 1 restrictions limit campfires in developed campgrounds.
