CouesUnlimited Report post Posted September 20, 2006 That is so very true. A pastor at my church once said that we must look to the LORD for a relationship and not so much religon. We wil live and go on with our lives with a relationship with the LORD and not so concerned about religion.

dave Report post Posted September 21, 2006 When I saw this yesterday I thought, oh no, what will be said on here. So good to find so many good words here. Every good gift comes from God. I consider hunting as walking with Him, and every harvest a gift from Him. As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for Thee, O God.

azryan Report post Posted September 21, 2006 i hope you all keep steve irwin in your prayers he was one heck of a guy...watched the memorial service it was emotional for everybody, especially when his daughter gave a little speech...dang im gonna misswatching him....anyways thought i would share with u all...last weekend me n my buddies were taking some people home it was about 2am we were heading south on val vista and all the sudden up ahead about 200ft some drunk driver was all the way in our lane coming the other way directly towards us at easily over 70mph...my friend who was driving slammed on the brakes and swerved towards the right(curb)...and at that instance i just closed my eyes cuz i thought we were gonna hit. i thought my life was gonna be over....but thankfully and we still dont understand how he did not hit us he drove on by...someone had to be watching out for us...i still can not believe we did not get hit....it was a miracle....it put life in perspective for me and how quickly it can really end....it would have easily been a fatal car accident...i can only say that god was watching out for us that night.....dang drunk drivers just would of been another statistic
Rembrant Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Had a similar experience when I was younger, except I was in the drunk car. 5 of us young, drunk and smoked-up guys were in an LTD with the driver being a guy that had been discharged from the Navy because of 2 on-base drunk driving accidents (shows you how smart we were). We were headed out to the Kendrick Mt. Lava caves. While going around the corner on the other side of Cheshire on Hwy 180, with the double yellow line, the driver decides to pass the vehicle in front of us. Yep, there was a vehicle coming the other way! Both of those vehicles hit their right shoulders as we full throttled right through the middle! Got kinda quiet in the LTD. Anyway, we made it out to the lava cave and halfway back in, we heard cries for help at the back of the cave! A young couple had made their way back in to the full depth of the cave when their flashlight went out. We gave them one of ours so they could get out. They left a note on the LTD thanking us for saving their lives. I believe we did. Wasn't until I was walking with God years later that I realized that HE spares us our lives through the insanity of our youth, so that we can be of use to HIM in HIS work of saving other people! Mike By the way, I hope the Viagra salesman checks back to see how his add is doing. Mike
azryan Report post Posted September 21, 2006 wow what at an experience...in a way you guys kinda redeemed yourselfs also by helping others...but I do believe that he has a purpose for us...the hard thing is what is it?
Rembrant Report post Posted September 22, 2006 downthebarrel17, It was a GOD thing. We could hardly redeem ourselves. We were on a path of self destruction and were capable of taking other people with us! What we got was God's grace and mercy. Mercy is NOT getting what we deserve, and grace is getting what we don't deserve. After decades of living a destructive life, I finally started seeing how God has been with me, and for me, all along - in spite of myself. What is our purpose? Ain't it great that we would have a purpose? And not just exist because of some random cosmic accident? The Bible has the answer to that question, a lot of answers to that all important question. It is our responsibility to dig and find 'em, and the least we could do for having been given a life. Here's one: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks the reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." 1 Peter 3:15. Have a great day! Mike
DesertBull Report post Posted September 22, 2006 wow what at an experience...in a way you guys kinda redeemed yourselfs also by helping others...but I do believe that he has a purpose for us...the hard thing is what is it? ". . .The LORD will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart. In days to come you will understand it clearly" (Jeremiah 23:20 NIV). We have to be patient in understanding God’s plans. He doesn’t give us the whole picture at once. But as time goes by, as each piece is put in place, it begins to form a pattern and, at last, a clear picture. He's not going to lay it all out and show us what will happen in our life for next twenty years. That's probably a good thing! God says, "A step at a time." Do you still need some assurance? Here it is: "The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me" (Psalm 138:8 NIV). If you love and serve him one step at a time, he will work out the bigger plan of your life for his glory and your good. http://www.manhattanavenue.org/God's%2...%20For%20Me.htm
