metau Report post Posted May 24, 2013 I was approached at work today about an opportunity to help run a 1-2 year job in the Omaha, NE/Council Bluffs, IA area. When it comes to outdoor opportunities(and fees), which of the two states would it be worth living in? As this will likely be my best chance at the other WT, that opportunity is high on my list. I would also like to get in some pheasant and waterfowl hunting, turkey come spring and of course get a line wet a time or two. Been looking at apartments all evening so have not had too much of a chance to check into this myself, but I do see NR Iowa deer tags are pricey. Thanks all. ThomC Report post Posted May 24, 2013 Actually you have the option to live in MO also. I would go to each states web site and see how they compare. MO would have the best fishing, waterfowl, quail. Good Luck
metau Report post Posted May 26, 2013 Didn't even think about quail. MO would be over an hour away from the job site. With the hours I'll be working on this job, that would make for way too long of a day. My aunt & uncle live in MO so I know I will be making several trips that way anyways, with a standing invitation for his best tree stand come archery season. I've had a chance to look at the IA dnr website, but not the NE one yet. Thanks.
DesertBull Report post Posted May 26, 2013 Iowa is going to be all private land which would ba awesome if you have a connection or two. NE is more likely to have some walk in or public area in the western pert of the state. They have antelope too. And a lot of pheasants.
metau Report post Posted May 27, 2013 Have some family in MO, and family friends in NE, but can't say I know anyone in IA. Think I am leaning towards the Omaha side at this point in time, but still need to research things some more. Thanks for the info on antelope, never even thought about that.
