jim Report post Posted May 24, 2013 I attended the Kingman meeting last night. There were around 14 others there also. For the most part nobody had any issues with the hunting and fishing liscense issues. As for the tag issues the room actually was asked who was in favor of premium hunts and the room voted majority against it. I think it was 5 for and 9 against premium hunts. The consensus of the room was that if premium elk tags did happen then only do the units that are managed for more and bigger bulls under the management plan these were units 9,10, 1 and 23. We had a couple guys from out of state that attended so we had a good perspective from a out of state opionon. Don Martin was there also and was taking notes so I dont know if he will chime in or not. We did have a good discussion about the tag insurance and that seemed to be popular in the room. Overall the most discussion seemed to be about the premium hunts. I voted against them, the main reason is I do not feel the way it was presented they are premium hunts. If anyone has specific questions on if something was discussed feel free to ask it will probally jog my memory.

MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted May 30, 2013 Well the intimate Wickenburg meeting is over, there were 5 G&F people and 4 hunters. One hunter was a guide. We were in discussions for 2 hours when it was all over, of course everyone was apposed to the Premium system and also the hike in the application fees and many suggestions were noted by the young lady taking notes. I would say I am please with the process so far and hope to see some changes to the structure based on feedback form email and meetings. I sent an email in earlier with concerns and I was happy to get a personal reply back. I was also addressed at the meeting based on the email. There are a lot of good simplifying items being presented and some normal fair rate changes. The structure around the youth prices was very good but at the cost of rate hikes in other areas which in the end is ok with me to a point. I also was pleased that if implemented, the premium would not cover my OTC archery deer December tag. Premium would be for draw only tags. All we can do is wait now and see how the input effects the next stage. I hope in the next meeting to get some numbers on how many responses were received and how many bodies showed up for meetings. I think is is very low from what I have heard so far. With so many hunters applying for tags and under 1 percent showing up to get involved in the future of their sport it doesn't bode well for us. On another note, with all of the flack going around about G&F I would like to say that I have only a good opinion of them. I have had good experiences and they have been very professional. Remember the individual does not make the whole team.
