davecinaz Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Yeah it was a nice 6x6 although there was an argument over if it was really a 6x7 since there was a small kicker on the G6. How long does a point have to be in order for it to be a point? I thought it was something like an inch. Out of the six guys who helped quarter it and pack it out there were six different scores ranging from 300 to 430. He was very thick and had very good mass, but was also right off to the shop to get the shoulder mount started. I've also always heard an inch or more counts. I don't see a 430 but low to mid 300 looks about right - good bull however you score him.
BASS Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Oh yeah it was an great bull for sure. I think it was his first archery kill, and know it was his first Elk. He hit it right in the jugular, and also hit the esophagus allowing it to go about twenty yards if even that.
DUG Report post Posted September 28, 2006 I believe the hunters name is Jason. He is my wifes aunts son in law. I was just sent some pictures of his elk. It is a nice one for sure. Looks like he had a lot of people on his hunt taking pictures. Do you know if his dad tagged out yet? Congrats to Jason for his first big bull elk!

I do not know if his dad tagged out or not, as I had to come back home Sunday for class, and won't be able to get back up there until tomorrow night. His dad didn't know until after we had already loaded it up and were heading back out again. They left a note on the truck, but we took it with us when we went out to help. That had to be the cleanest kill site I have ever seen, everything but the gut pile was hauled out, and even that was hidden. A great group of guys to be around. DUG Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Here is another picture of Jason's elk. Maybe this will give a better view for those of you scoring at home.
