I'll be there! Can't wait. Two years in a row. Unbelievable! I hope we get some good moisture up there and the wheat comes back.

I will be there too. Third tag in four years! Didn't get a tag last year but 2010, 2011 and now 2013. Not looking forward to the amount of hunters that are going to be in there though.............

Last year was awesome. Best time I've ever had hunting in my life. Last year there was still some closed areas behind big lake. It was nice because not to many people were walking in. We'll be in a different area this year because there are roads all over that spot. I just hope it's half of what lat year was.

I know people who had this hunt last year and they said it was unbelieveable. The first week of the hunt was the best for the rut. This was a surprise because usually it is the second week. Anyone else who hunted it last year see the same thing?

Also for those of you that are hunting it please let me give you a little advise. USE YOUR CALLS VERY LITTLE! 2010 and 2011 were stupid crazy with people running all over the place cow calling. This made the bulls clam up and they wouldn't bugle much. When they did bugle as soon as a hunter got close and started blowing their cow calls the bulls would round up his cows and leave the area. Best advise is to not call at all and just slip into the bugles getting the wind right.

Yes last year was a very unique year. Best horn quality I have witnessed in 40 years and like you say the most action also realized the first week of the hunt (rather than the second week). Hoping for still above average horn quality this year but the grasses have not come in like last year and the precipitation was not as timely in the spring.

Just returned from 4 days of scouting, hanging cameras, and hiking. I was very disappointed at how dry much of the area is and how few of the Spring grasses had come in. The Eastern edge of the unit is very dry. A couple ponds that always hold water were dry. The highest parts of the unit look a little better, but still of concern. Areas that were thick with wheat, barley, etc last year show little or no sign of new growth this year. The orchard grass is starting to grow, but not like this time last year.

I did see 6 bulls running together this morning. The smallest had about 24 inches of main beam. The two largest were big enough to get my heart pumping pretty good...well either the bulls or a pack full of cameras, steep incline, and 9000 feet...either way, I was using up some oxygen.

Saw a couple hundred elk over the weekend including one bull with incredible growth. My brother and good friend have tags so I will be tagging along with some guys with incredibly high standards. Scouting between the unit 1 and 3b early bull tags so my scouting time will be segmented. This is going to be fun. Seems kinda easy to get early bull tags this year :D
