Boot repair

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a place in the Phx area that actually does a good job repairing hunting boots- resoling? I have had Lambs fix a pair for me but the soles came unglued twice. Don't want to take a nice pair there and looking for input before I send them off to Danner or some other out-of-state place for new soles!

Was actually just at one this afternoon, Cobblers Den @ Bell & Scottsdale. Great customer service. Have not had anything resoled there yet, but would do it in a heartbeat if I needed to.

I used to live in Scottsdale and they do great work!

You have had a hunting style boot resoled there or just general shoe repair?

If they are Danner boots you can't beat the repair quality.

I've used Martinez Boot and Shoe repair for cowboy boots, haven't tried for hunting boots, they are at 35th Ave & Greenway

This may be true but they charge a flat rate to "recraft" the boots and nothing is wrong with mine other than their defective air-bobs soles broke off prematurely.

$115 is a lot to put new soles on.

I currently have a pair of my cowboy boots being resoled in Nogales Son. They are going to put a Vibram type sole for $75. My uncle did so last year and just about uses them daily without issues. I will send a pair of old hunting boots to see what it runs/quality etc.

Send them back to Danner, I sent mine to Danner and they sent me new Pronghorns. Good customer service.

I had mine re-crafted at Danner last year. Debbie in their re-crafting department was great to work with. I thought they did a nice job on my boots. I basically had them re-craft everything but the leather. I hesitated spending the $180+ on them but these boots retailed for $320+. And they originally lasted me 4 seasons- much longer than any other boot I wore. So I bit the bullet.

I will say that I don't believe they're "basically brand new". They come back re-soled, stitched, heel, toe and shank all re-enforced.

I feel like I do a pretty good job at taking care of my boots but these seem to be wearing out MUCH faster than the original pair- especially the stitching. I'm in the process of working with Debbie to see if there's something they can do since it's only been a year since I got them back. But here's the before and after picture.

I need to do something as I have three pair that I rotate. My Danners and Meindls which both need resoled and my Kennetreks which are pretty crappy in my opinion. My stitching is good on both it's just the airbobs that break off that bothers me. I wonder if Danner has a different sole they can use?

The air bob soles are the worst soles for AZ. They work great for pheasant hunting in Nebraska though.

I found that out- I originally bought them for a mule deer hunt in British Colombia. The bobs are pretty slippery on wet dead fall I found out- something that BC has a lot of! They said they would resole them with a SIerra sole. I guess I will send them to Danner.
