rclouse79 Report post Posted May 14, 2013 Awesome article. I see the types of kids/parents they are talking about all the time as a high school teacher. It is good for me to read now that I have a son of my own. I think most parents have good intentions and don't even realize they are doing more harm than good. Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted May 14, 2013 I find myself both an observer and guilty of exactly what this guy does a great job of putting out there. I particularly like this quote: "They read them the Dr. Seuss book Oh, the Places You'll Go! and create bumper stickers telling the world their child is an honor student. American parents today expect their children to be perfect—the smartest, fastest, most charming people in the universe. And if they can't get the children to prove it on their own, they'll turn to doctors to make their kids into the people that parents want to believe their kids are." deserttacoma84 Report post Posted May 14, 2013 There are now little league programs that don't keep score and everyone gets to bat 3 times. No losers. When I have kids they will play sports and play them competitively and learn how to lose and learn how to win. Maybe break a bone or two...
deserttacoma84 Report post Posted May 15, 2013 Ir AKKK DT84 You mean you would allow your child to grow-up with a sense of personal responsibilty... What a big meany you will be...Hehehe Ha! Sobeit.. he/she will thank me for it when they become an adult. Its disturbing to think this is who will be taking care of us in 20-30 years...

Santana Outdoors Report post Posted May 15, 2013 Very interesting, and I happen to agree. Kids today dont have it like I did growing up, and its frustrating to see the changes....and the changes are all for the worse, not making it better. Its like a masking a problem instead of fixing it....very scary.

Kids today dont have it like I did growing up, and its frustrating to see the changes....and the changes are all for the worse, not making it better. Its like a masking a problem instead of fixing it....very scary. Each generation looks back and says the same thing about the up and coming. I remember in the 60's my dad complaining about kids, teenagers in particular. Does make you wonder if it is sour grapes or we really do digress with each generation.......which I believe we have in many regards.
