mklong40 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 To help manage through the agonizing days of not chasing coues through the hills, I decided to take up some Tarpon Fishing in Puerto Rico with the wife. We were actually on our way to a "real" vacation and talked her into a morning of fishing. We hooked into about 20 tarpon in 5 hours. Got about 8 to the boat and 4 in the boat. We also went after some Snook and others. First time to catch Tarpon for me and now Im planning my next trip. Unreal game fish to catch!

PRDATR Report post Posted May 13, 2013 Very Nice, what part of the island did you fish? The guide looks like a guy I used near Fajardo a few years ago. I don't remember his name, he was from Brazil.
IA Born Report post Posted May 13, 2013 Back in 2009, I managed to boat a small tarpon (5-10 lbs) on my fly rod. I know the feeling of planning another trip. Nothing like watching a silver king jump!

mklong40 Report post Posted May 14, 2013 This was in San Juan. We went out of a marina about 10 minutes from the airport. The guides name is Rafa. His charter can be seen at www.gotarponpr.com Very good guy and put us on fish right away. I havent stopped thinking about it. My research, since being back, is pointing me to the Florida Keys next.....until then, I wonder if there are any Tarpon in Roosevelt? HA.
