Coach Report post Posted May 12, 2013 Dang it, Brian! As soon as I was ready to give up you have to go and say that! I've been chasing toms all over that unit and was ready to eat the tag. Now I'm gonna have to get up early yet again and try one more time before work. Here's the tom I got my first archery shot at a couple weeks ago. I hit low as I thought he was about 25 yards but he was 32 when I stepped it off. Sliced a couple feathers, but watched him run off a little confused but unharmed. I was shooting through a gap in the trees out of a blind and didn't have my rangefinder. I sure wish I could "mulligan" that shot.

Swivelhead Report post Posted May 19, 2013 Swivelhead, what do you mean 90 percent knowing the birds your hunting? Like knowing patterns of daily activity from scouting or the breeding stage they are in? Daily activity. Knowing where the birds are and what they are doing. It's easier to call a bird in if your calling location is where he's going anyway. Often I end up ambushing birds late in the season. Seeps, hidden water are prime loafing locations. I've had a number of lone gobblers light up while loafing near seeps, etc.
