Guest oneshot Report post Posted May 5, 2013 Let me preface this first that I respect and fully support Border Patrol/Border Protection and all Law enforcement in general... There is a BP checkpoint outside of Sonoita,AZ on State Route 83 that while it is open during daylight hours, is CLOSED at night... TOTAL madness... I 19 has a checkpoint that is finding drugs daily, the best dogs in the service, high tec scanners, professional agents, etc. Doing the JOB... Arivaca Road and the ST RT 83 checkpoints are the "redheaded stepchilderen" of checkpoints, old, basic gear, NO dogs, and minimal staffing... Closing the st rt 83 checkpoint at night is like making sure your front door is locked, lights are on, and taking the BACKDOOR of the hinges as an open invite to all that would do crime... The only reasons I can see for this danger to citizens and SLAP in the face to ALL LEOs is either the suits in charge of the sector have the IQ of turnips, or they are CORRUPT... Active BP, Please feel free to share this with those incharge...
Snapshot Report post Posted May 5, 2013 Three reasons.........Obama...Sequester cuts...and the most worthless person in DHS, Janet Napolitano. It's the pencil pushers in Washington that cause the problems, and not the BP agents. If Obama had his way, he would eliminate the border completely. Mexico is full of undocumented Democrats.
Pine Donkey Report post Posted May 5, 2013 There are a lot of good people on the ground who are not allowed to do there job because of the agenda driven policies being made in Washington. This is no different than what the Forrest Service and BLM are facing.
cmc Report post Posted May 6, 2013 The hyw83 has been closing at night for the past 20yrs and shuts down for a short duration during the year. Nothing new because of the current president. Dont get me wrong I agree it should be a. 24/7 operation. Do some leg work and you'll love the politics involved with it as to why. BTW....those guys have told me about more deer, pigs and bears than my trail camera ever have. Several time paying off on filled tags.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted May 6, 2013 Hmmmmm... Two replys to my first post were deleted within hours, maybe alittle to close to the truth???Yeah CMC, I also have been given critter reports by BP ... No replies have been deleted that I know of...at least not by any forum admin. why would you say that? Of course people can delete their own posts if they want. Only deleted it for that reason, not for any theory about how close to the truth/false this topic might be. I only deleted my own post though, Oneshot. None others..... S. Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted May 6, 2013 You can go 80 miles an hour on I-10, then turn off at Road Forks, NM and head south on 80......go 56 mph and you will get pulled over. There is a pullout about 3 miles south, always BP and DPS or Sheriff there visiting side by side. Couple weeks ago I was letting my 15 year old permit holder drive and they had decided to throw up a "registration and license" check. Made Cole sweat....nothing to sweat about but it was funny to watch him squirm in the seat. No dogs, but they had a semi pulled over and some guy was opening up his tool box in the back of his truck SONORA plates. It is just a "show" of enforcement, no real intention of slowing things down......I don't blame the men and women on the ground pounding the dirt.....just the pencil pushers that have never really visited the area......
