COUESAZ Report post Posted September 14, 2006 What do you use on your quad. Do you use the hard shell gun boots or the gun racks on your front or back rack.
bmf1321 Report post Posted September 14, 2006 I use the rack style on the front and like it alot. i think to be legal the firearm must also be in a case. not 100% sure though.
COUESAZ Report post Posted September 14, 2006 I have both kind and have used them both on and off, I think i am likeing the Boot more right now for some reason. My gun is a bit longer than most and it does stick out to one side of the quad so it makes me wory about hitting it and messing it up. I do not know if they have to be cased or not, But when i use my rack set up i use my case as well. It seems to be better for the gun and keeping it free of dust and most moist conditions. azhuntnut Report post Posted September 14, 2006 I built a rack on the back of my quad with two removeable brackets that hold my hard case. I can hold my rifle or bow case. I don't road hunt, so I am not worried about getting my weapon out of the case fast. David
rugerman Report post Posted September 14, 2006 I've got the Mad Dog Air ride on the front rack with the gun in a soft case. Dust still gets inside - In need of a liner of some sort
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Hard shell scabboard. Open racks subject them to dirt. I carry my guns unloaded so I can't be acused of using a vehicle as an aid.

COUESAZ Report post Posted September 15, 2006 The dust is what has killed me with the racks, And haveing the scope get so cold that it fogs to bad to see through it. It seems the boot helps just a bit more.
youngbuck Report post Posted September 15, 2006 i usually use the gunracks up front with my rifle in a soft case bungied on. Its easy to take on and off and keeps the dust off my gun. havent taken my new rifle, with a 26" barrel and muzzle break, on the quad yet. I havent thought of the length being a problem till now
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted September 17, 2006 I like the hard sided because it will protect your gun better in a spill.
scout4u Report post Posted September 17, 2006 I had racks but as many said the dust and cold just plays heck on yur scopes so this year i am switching to a hard case when i get my new quad that is. also when you smack into branches etc its a good idea to have some protection fro your rifle right.i was told its legal to have the rifle on a rack just as long as its empty. BASS Report post Posted September 21, 2006 I used the Plano gun case that sticks up behind you from the rack. I liked it, but always wondered what would happed if the quad rolled over. Now, I just put it in a case, and toss it in the bed.
