jeffcros Report post Posted April 30, 2013 Since I've been working out of town I had a nice 7 hour drive to meet the rest of the guys in camp on Friday afternoon. We shot the bull a little, got checked a couple times by the game wardens, then decided to head out and try to find some birds. I split off from the crew and took some pictures of some jakes and hens and right about 7 found a ridge that the birds were going crazy on. After listening to them all gobble for awhile I decided to head back to camp and get some dinner and hit the bed. I got up early Saturday and took off to the bird spot. I got in there early and set up, I started with some light calls and the birds were fired up. After a few minutes I could hear a bird coming off the roost. He glided right out in front of me at about 30 yards. As soon as he hit full strut I let him have it. He folded up and the hunt was over. I hung out and listened to the other birds talk for awhile then took soe photos and tried to go help the others in camp. We got close on a couple of occcations but not close enough. It was nice to get back to the Rez. There are alot of birds and not much traffic.
