wayno945 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Let's hope they aren't as successful as what happened in Yellowstone. That wolf disease is spreading throughout the Rockies. It really sucks that both state and federal game officials are colluding to ruin Arizona's game population.
6ANut Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Unreal, how much money is wasted on these two animals. Could have used that money for water holes, or even better Increasing the number of YOUTH hunters. What a joke looks like the female has never even been out into the wild??
rossislider Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Amazing how easily they could be mistaken as coyotes by the average predator hunter... just saying.

With all the zeros we have put on the board together, yes, I would consider you below average.
Snapshot Report post Posted April 26, 2013 There is a reason why wolves became extinct in certain areas. The Fed's want that "Warm and Fuzzy" feeling about re-introduction programs. You would think they might have learned something by now. Wolves are killing machines. So are mountain lions, but at least they can be hunted. Just ask any rancher in Montana how they feel about Wolves.
brent Report post Posted April 26, 2013 My opinion: Theres not enough room for both wolves and humans in a crowded place like AZ. However; If there was a way to keep them confined to a specific area, then I might be okay with it. Like if every wolf outside a specific unit or two was fair game to get shot. Obviosly there needs to be a way to keep them from expanding their range throughout the state if we dont want to see our elk and deer numbers plumbit and tag numbers with them. There have been several initatives to re-introduce grizz bears to the Southwest; specifically the blue range and gila wilderness of AZ/NM. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think there is more of a place for the Grizzlies than there are for wolves? Just curios! To me it is a little sad that we lost these two species from AZ. ForkHorn Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I personally would love to see a Grizzly in AZ, but realistically that is a much bigger problem than wolves. I can imagine the public outcry after the first grizzly stumbled onto a hiker with rat dogs and gave them a good swat of a paw. I can't imagine cattle folk would be too happy either considering the last Grizzly in AZ was killed by a government trapper after ranchers complained of dead cows with bashed in skulls. AZ8 Report post Posted April 27, 2013 It appears the grey wolf will be removed from the endangered list. Leaving individual states to manage them. Finally bringing some balance back to the ecosystem. On the flip side, this ruling will seal the fate of the Mexican wolf reintroduction. In other words, the Mexican wolf in AZ/NM is here to stay. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-wolves-20130426,0,280341.story
BigMoqui Report post Posted April 27, 2013 This subject has a lot of ups and downs twists and turns etc. but for me the bottom line is they aren't even wolves they are hybrids. They caught a lot of the original breeding stock from Old Mexico and they were all interbred with ranch dogs. They don't belong here any more than your neighbor's German shepherd.
sjvcon Report post Posted April 27, 2013 Where the heck is good ole' Lark ... aka .270 to weigh in on this. He knew a lot about it ... had researched it a ton. Biggest waste of money in the history of AZ GFD. If they don't want negative comments, they should quit doing dumb stuff. There was buzz a while back about them reintroducing the Mexican Grey into the Kaibab and the Strip. Now if that wouldn't be dumb, I don't know what would be. As to the Grizz back in AZ ... I'm absolutely 100% opposed. The dummies in CA are pushing for it there ... let them do it ... just not here.
