bull frogs spots?

Recommended Posts

big ol' thunder frogs are stacked up 3 deep in redhead marsh just north of show low. its the last settling pond for show low water works but supposed to be safe for frog, fish and waterfowl consumption.

rainbow lake in lakeside has a 50yr reputation for puttin' out froglegs.

Well if you are ever down to the Yuma area. Take 95 north and turn left at the 2 big guns at YPG. Go past the 2nd gate. The road will curve to the left as you go over the canal. Park on the right and start walking with a light and spear/bow. I would walk until there was no more water and turn around and hit the other side of the road back to the truck. I would get in the truck and would drive slow and pick up the frogs. After I dispatched them I would lay them belly up on the white lines on the side of the road so I could see them to pick them up. In good years I would get a bout 50 frogs per trip. 2 trips a month for 4 months. Man how I miss them frog legs...

Yep Most I have seen are up in Show Low in the small settling and drainage ponds. Anywhere there is water consistently they seen to be there. We were up around Pintail and my daughter chased the small ones after a hatch for hours! There were hundreds of them it looked like the ground was constantly moving. I got to imagine the birds eat really well over the next couple of months.

Might check Picacho, I have not been out there this year to see how much water id there but the frogs used to be there. Lot of area to cover so you may need to make it a night trip so they dont just take off into the reeds before you can get close.

I used to get good legs down in Pena Blanca, haven't been there since they refilled it though.
