What is the best bow sight out there?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about making some upgrades to my bow before archery deer opens ( plus I have an archery elk hunt ) so I was wondering what you all thought is the best bow sight on the market?

Axcel..... If you shoot a Mathew's, you'll like it even more... (They have harmonic dampeners on them that match the Mathew's line)

I like Spot Hogg, Axcel, and Montana Black Gold. My favorite is the Spot Hogg Tommy Hogg, fixed pins plus a slider all in one, it's nice to have for taking long shots when practicing, it makes a 50 yard shot feel like 20 yards. When that moment of truth comes on a big buck or bull your confidence will be through the roof. Can't go wrong with any of the top end sights on the market though. It's all personal preference.

I shoot the Sonoran long range made by my brother, the pins can be so tight they can touch you can shoot out past 100 yards with it. it's a great site for flat shooting bows

I love my spott hog real deal. I wish I would have gotten the .010 pins instead of the .019 pins though. Most of the target is covered by the .019 pin at anything over 90 yards...

The site is bomb proof though. It's been dropped a lot and taken 5 or 6 trips through the airport and I've never had to adjust it after.

There are many good, none the best. Find one you like that fits your style and go with it. Montana black gold, cbe, axcel, spott hogg, sword, etc....and many others.

I will say my groups improved greatly when i went to a single vertical pin. I went with the montana black gold ascent single pin.

Has anyone tried the tactical archery sabo sights? Or any of the other peepless type sights?

I just looked them up. They look cool but I don't know anyone that has used them. If you get them let me know how you like them.

I like the CBE Tec Hunter. But If I didn't use it I would use Excel or Spot Hogg.

All the sights mentioned are great sights, I have owned Hogg, Axcel and TruGlu.... finally settled Sureloc (modified lethel weapon max) for the past 4 years it has treated me well. Its a slider, I have three pins and the 3rd pin is movable from 50-120 yds (dialed in exactly to 2yd measurements). It can easily be calibrated based on speed of a bow. As my eyesight has waned over the years, the fewer pins seem to help. Plus its fun to shoot against friends at long range targets as I can shoot to 97 yds, 83 yds, 105 yds...etc (without guessing).

I made the switch to Spott Hogg several years ago, won't go anywhere else. Bought a "Real Deal" used and upgraded to a 5 pin wrapped Hogg It the next year. If I lived in a more open area I'd go with the 7 Deadly Pins for longer range shooting. Fact of the matter is for my midwest hunting I don't need more than 3 pins.
