Hey Buddy, can you spare some change?

Recommended Posts

Everything changes, so I am told! That being said, I have been sort of a stable fellow for a long time... (some might call it boring) Well anyway the time has finally come for me to step out on faith and make a big change.

Before the end of September, Arizona will be only memories in my heart and mind. I will be moving my family to Wyoming. I plan to build my own home before looking for some new line of work. Twill be strange not having a job as I have never been unemployed in my adult life. Leaving my current job of 25+ years is difficult but certainly essential to these faith plans. Arizona has changed dramaticaly in too many ways to list during the last 20 years and somewhere olong the way, she changed so much that she just doesn't seem to fit in easily with western ways. I know I won't find the bygone days of Arizona in Wyoming, but maybe I will find something even better. Seek and ye shall find....

We have designed and drawn up our own home plans and will be doing nearly all the construction work on our own. Things will be pretty busy for a while but after we get settled and I state residency, I hope to have lots of time to do some serious hunting. The Hunting in Wyoming will certainly make the change easier and have rewards of it's own besides the slower pace and country life with smaller population density. The town where we will build and live in is home to a Christian Bible college and it seems to be a great place to live and raise a family, clean air, quiet times and you really know what the word neighbor is all about.

I joined the forum shortly after Amanda began CWT. During that time, I have marveled at the wide array of topics and information and the quality of people drawn to the site. The forum has grown greatly and has been full of Posts that are often educational, insightful, inspiring, infuriating and humorous. Great Stuff, aint it! I will still be able to be linked to you all in cyberspace, although not a lot of time to post for a while during construction.

Thanks to everyone for the memories. Here's hoping you all get those 130" Coues bucks with your next tag.

Please, keep me and my family in your prayers as I will yours.

Peace, Out

Marlon (AZ4life)

Wow, that's a big leap and I envy you. Wyoming is a beautiful state. I have hunted there a number of times and plan on hunting Shiras moose there in 2008. I wish you and your family the best of luck and will look foward to some threads with awesome pics from the Cowboy State ;)

Man, do I envy you!! I love WY.. great state with lots of hunting, slower pace of life, an outdoors lifestyle, beautiful scenery, and way fewer people than Az.. i would move there in a heartbeat if I could..

If my plans go right, I will be planning a move as well within the next 2 years from Az with my current employment. I will either relocate back home to TX or will be in north/central MT. If I cannot get out of Az with my current career, its adios to this job and on to another.. I just can't stay somewhere that I don't hold close to my heart.. In all honesty, here lately I've given some very serious consideration to jump ship permanently and move to New Zealand and take up permanent residence there. That country his held very dear to me and is probably the closest you can actually come to a heaven on earth..

Az4life huh... I guess now it'll have to be WY4now!!!! :)

Marlon, as I said last time I met you I sure envy ya!!!

It was a pleasure meeting you those few times in person and will be hard to get used to not seeing your replies on CWT.

We just made the leap yesterday and purchased a half acre right on top of tonto creek, in tonto basin. Like Scottyboy we are selling out and gone from this valley in 2 years. Only for the living part though I am still gonna drive down every day "for my next 20 years".

. But it is a road I love to drive an the area I grew up messin around in.

And no mortage payment.

Best of times ahead to you and your family.

When you go live, with your new name WYO4Life. let us know.

Some of us will be putting in there to hunt and may need get some pointers.

Having the courage to live out your dream says a lot about a man. You are doing it brother!

Looks like you will have your hands full for a while but once you get settled, don't forget about us, get on line and shows us just how beautiful Wyoming is!

Stay in touch and good luck although you might not need it.

God bless and you will be in my prayers.

Be sure to post pics of your new spread as it develops, and of your adventures in the Wyoming outdoors.

One thought is to purchase your AZ lifetime license before moving so you will not have to purchase an expensive non-resident license each year you apply back in AZ.

What's happening to my beloved AZ.? Strangers are coming and old friends are leaving. This state needs more people like you and less like ''them!'' Wyoming is lucky to have you. Send us loys of luck and good luck to you and your family.

Az4Life,

Man i've read your post and it mirrors some of my exact thoughts. I've spent my entire life here in Az and know it will never be the same. Have had thoughts of Iowa ,where last year they harvested 210,000 whitetail deer. I've been very lucky with my draws , but the quality of life has gone way down the crapper.

Take care and really enjoyed your posts and your support of other fellow hunters.

REgards,

Doug

Hey everyone, thanks for all the kind words and good wishes. Comments sure are reinforcement for a rut hugger like me.

It will be about 2 weeks till I "get outta Dodge" so I will pop in nightly to try to get a few more CWT fixes before leaving. I plan to keep tabs on this great forum and all the adventures you coues hunters have while I am slaving away on my home and starting a new chapter in my life.

I have accepted that change is inevitable in life. Many times we have noi control but for at least this one time, I will be the changer, not the changee.

I am sure we will continue to swap Stories right here, and maybe hunts in the future.

Thanks again for your kind words and thoughts.

AZ4life,

Marlon

I'm a sixth generation Arizonan. I'm thinking of moving on also. Snowbirds and illegals have ruined all the things that used to make our state a great place to be. Giladad
