I went there for the first time last year and MAN, they were everywhere. Big ones, small ones, you name it, you saw it. It didn't even matter what time of day it was or which way you went, high or low, they were every where!

Best place to sit and watch other hunters I ever saw!!

The place I went had a sign in book. When I got there at 12 noon on Saturday (missed the opening day), there had already been 84 vehicles sign in since 5pm on Thursday. About 3/4 of them had 3 or more people listed. There was also about 20 camps along the road (9 miles long), almost all of which had atleast 2 vehicles, most had 3 or more.

A good time was had by......well ... Sorry to sound so negative, but hunting in that kind of traffic is not my idea of a good time. Honestly, I only heard 2 shots and saw only 1 deer tagged.

I put in almost every year for unit 32 as my first choice. Thats not to say it is the best area, it is the area that I know best. 32 is a large zone and there are certain areas with many hunters. If you ask 50 members which is there favorite unit you may get 25 to 30 different answers. Unit 32 is a very diverse unit and has many different types of habitat, prairie lowlands, rolling hills with oaks, tall rugged nasty mountains with remote canyons, I have had some luck in all these areas. I truly believe that every unit has record book potential! This is just my opinion, and its up to us as hunters to find the animals. As far as how to hunt this area, thats easy, Glass, Glass, Glass, and then glass some more. I personally try to get as far off the road as I personally can and I rarely ever see another hunter in the immediate area that I am hunting.I know one thing for sure ,by putting distance from the roads you will virtually eliminate about 90% of the rest of the hunters and then if you do run into someone way back in some remote canyon its probably one of us CWT members. If you see some ugly old dude with a white mustache and he`s not giving you any obscene sign language than go ask him his name. Good luck and I hope this helps. P.S. If he says Rich Thompson, don`t worry he wont shoot ya! Good luck in the Draw Coues Addict

From reading Duane Adams book and see lots of deer come out of 32 I would say it is a respectable unit. You just have to hunt hard like in all the other units. But that is pretty much a given, depends if you are a rifle or bow hunter too.

Coues addict,

Are you from California? If you are, I think we might have camped next to each other the last couple of seasons. Does a white Dodge ring a bell?

I know its a big unit but I have camped next a camp of "older" gentlemen that are extremely nice guys from California. One year they even let me borrow a game bag since I forgot mine. Hopefully, I can return the favor someday!

Yes, I am from California, (Please don`t hate me!) but P.E.T.A. sucks and I hate Treehuggers! '' I just had to say that! '' I don`t know if a big white Dodge rings a bell or not! Usually I pretty much camp with my son or my brother in law and we usually don`t camp to close to anybody. Last season I helped two of my buddies from San Diego in the October hunt and we camped in a spot that never used to have many people but ''wow'' last season it was a pretty popular spot. Hey, I do resemble the remark of ''older'' but what can I say. I try not to think about that when I am hunting, Oh man, now I`m bummed. I sure hope its a good draw year! Good Luck Coues Addict

This unit has a very good density of deer in certain spots. I am 3 for 4 in this unit and all are within 1 mile. I could not even begin to tell you how many scouting trips i have had but I can tell you that it has paid off. One kill was opening day at about 7:15, one 2nd day at 2:30, and one 2nd day 8:45. My dad hunts with me and it's always a bet to see who gets the bigger deer. One year we both killed out at 7:15 and both dropped our deer about 15 feet apart. It was high five time then, then the work began we had hiked in about 1 1/2 mile in this canyon in the dark with flashlights. Oh my dad won that year. He bagged a 3x4 and I got a 3x3.

This thread pre-dates my kids, marriage, college education and all of my twenties!

Lazy Hunter I am just venturing a guess that Hunterdude hasn't been around for a while, heck he might even be dead.
