Remington, Government Subsidized

Recommended Posts

This just rubs me wrong,:

$16,000 per sniper rifle for the U.S. Military? $80,000,000 in tax payer money over ten years, when it just so happens that Remington had a smaller request in for who knows what, at a time in history where we are seeing unprecedented demand for ammo and weaponry? Riddle me this, Remington-You're going to stay in a provocatively anti-2nd Amendment State when the rest of your pals are headed for cover....too big to fail, or just a slave to the machine? Has me wondering, who is scratching whos back here? NY woke up and realized that they had better not lose all the gun mfgs, the tax revenues from the employees and products sold is a good stream...but I highly doubt that the income stream is all NY was concerned about losing.

I bet there are very few out there that don't benefit from some sort of subsidize in one form or another.

You do this and the govt. will pay you this much.......it is what causes alot of the increases in taxes etc, to cover such govt. activity.

I was told that the NRA was the happiest they have been in years with Obama in power NRA membership has spiked like no other time in history, gun sales and ammo sales the same......so then you have to wonder.......................

I am an NRA Member, but there are certainly things about the group that I am not fond of. I hate the Lobby ... the only reason I tolerate their Lobby Arm is that other Lobbies would remove our rights if we didn't fight fire with fire. If the Lobbies went away, including the Lobby Arm of the NRA, I would be fine with it.

Government Subsidies are a JOKE. "I see that you can't make it on your own, so here you go ... we will give you taxpayer money so that you don't fail." News flash ... the FREE MARKET should dictate thrive or fail.

This "too big to fail" thing kills me too.

It's all corrupt and screwed up.

Remington posted this on their fb page a couple hours ago. Pretty interesting, they must be taking some serious heat from some major players to put this out there.

"To our Remington fans,

We believe the NY SAFE Act is unconstitutional and was passed in a questionable fashion.

Remington and its employees worked diligently with pro-gun legislators to prevent the Act's passage. We actively participated in the Albany rallies and drove the letter-writing campaign to stop this anti-gun legislation.

The recently awarded Department of Defense (Special Operations Command) contract, questioned by some as a "pay-off," has been in development for years -- it has nothing to do with NY State.

While we are unhappy with the misguided acts of our elected politicians, Remington will not run or abandon its loyal and hard working 1,300 employees without considerable thought and deliberation. Laws can be overturned and politicians voted out of office, but the decisions we make today will affect our people, their families and entire communities for generations.

Please bear with us as we determine the most appropriate way to satisfy our customers and protect our employees."

Here is the link if anyone cares to see it for themselves.
