3B North Archery Antelope

Recommended Posts

Drew my first goat tag this year. Pretty excited to get out and do some scouting. How is access in 3B North? Most of the unit looks to be private but is it posted? I wanted to start scouting the area outside of Concho around Mesa Redonda and Critchlow Flat. Can I get into these areas without permission or do I need to start looking for land owner contacts?

Get ahold of the game warden up in that unit. They usually have names and numbers of contacts that will let you hunt on their land. 3b's wardens will be out of the office in Showlow. Good luck!

it is really checkerboarded, so everyother 40 acres is private, and everyother is not.... so its not like one big land owner that has the hole place locked up, you can go about were you want too, just have to watch when you hiking, you may run into fences and have to skirt 40 acre pieces.... so lots of fences will say no trespassing, but it is just THAt 40 acres.... really hard to keep track of, but the roads are NOt locked or anything for the most part... good luck

Good info. I used habi-map and access Arizona and saw the checker board. Just didn't know if there would be locked gates all over. I hunt some places close to home that look like this on a map but none of its posted unless there are houses. Thank you.

most of the locked stuff is just the driveways going into the 40 acre pieces, not the roads... and yes there are houses scattered from heck to breakfast out there,.... kind a pain to hunt like that , but it is what it is.... but any main rd will not me locked, as there are to many that travel it to get back to a house/shack some place.... so you shouldnt have to much trouble with locked gates.... and there really isnt any "landower " to call to get access... not any one preson ownes very much, just be carefull of some of the folks out there....

Are there places to camp off of Pintail Lake Rd, Burbon Ranch Rd, or Little Mormon Lake Rd?

Yes definitely watch out for meth houses and meth heads. I'd be well armed while up there scouting and hunting.

Plenty of places to camp but also be aware there are antelope moving around all the water spots you mentioned as well. Camp at Scott's and then drive and hike the other areas so you don't acciepdently run them off in an are you could hunt.

I would not camp around Pintail Lake unless your into that Brokeback Mountain style of romance. Saw an older gentleman and a native entrenched in a passionate embrace and I will not mention what my brothers saw when they were cutting wood in the area.
