Ace High Benny Report post Posted April 9, 2013 Hi all, I am new to 6B. Will be hunting Dec 5-16. Any areas you may suggest for a base camp? Best, Ace
izquik72 Report post Posted April 9, 2013 Depends on the weather and how much gear you are bringing. The roads can get quite messy if it gets wet or snows. The woody mountain road is maintained and will get you into the heart of elk country. Finding them after 655 other elk hunts plus deer hunts will be another matter
Ace High Benny Report post Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks! Finding them is my job. I do, however, need to be in a fairly comfortable / accessible base camp. Thus, any suggestions or sharing experiences are appreciated. Ace

cosninocanines Report post Posted April 10, 2013 Weather will be your key. Stay close to FS231 (Woody Mtn road) the spot Adicted pointed out is good, you can check out the cinder pit rd in section 25. For the absolute safest spot the city wells near the arboretium but that will give you a lot of drive time when you go out to hunt.
