raventechniq Report post Posted April 7, 2013 My dad and I got drawn for elk together this year. We have someone taking us out fairly familiar with the area. Looking for any tips or pointers you may be willing to offer not necessarily relating to which area to hunt. This is only my second elk hunt and my dads first so if I could get any idea what to expect that be cool. Weather, hunting pressure, etc. thanks for any replies Anthony

Antmo23 Report post Posted April 17, 2013 Find somewhere to glass and put your binos to work. They won't be talking, so spot and stalk is the name of the game. Good luck!
AZ8 Report post Posted April 17, 2013 If its warm and dry, look for water and either catch them at water or on their way to/from. Pray for this scenario!! If its snowing, stay in camp, drink beer. Repeat one beer for ever inch of snow that falls. Lol In all seriousness, try the country around the forest boundary. I've had luck finding them in the canyons within the pinyon junipers. I had the late archery hunt a couple years ago and was in elk during most of my hunt, but just couldn't connect. Good luck.
