Viper Report post Posted April 4, 2013 That's a good tag! I got the Nov archery bull hunt. I will probably be scouting during your hunt. We have hunted coues in that area for several years. You definitely have to scout as much as possible. It is very rough, steap and brushy. We have seen more elk in there each year. Congrats and good luck. WACem44 Report post Posted April 6, 2013 My 69yr old father drew this tag as well! It should be a fun hunt. I've heard this units water holes are notorious for having game cameras stolen on them? Does anyone have any knowledge on this? I've lost a few in the past and really don't want to lose any more...
pwrguy Report post Posted April 6, 2013 That is a fun hunt. Don't be surprised if you bump into almost every other person that drew the tag. The accesible area's that the bulls are in that time of year are somewhat limited and a lot of people will be eyeing the same bulls. Regardless, you will have a good time. JLG Report post Posted April 7, 2013 Help a friend on this hunt last year and he took a very nice unbroken 6 X 6 opening day. It was a nice hunt and he was happy with the result. How old is your son? Take Care JLG.
Willyhunts2 Report post Posted April 7, 2013 Depends on the area you want to hunt. Never had the tag but spent a ton of time in that unit and during that hunt. North west gets hit pretty hard along with south of star valley but if you get into areas you wouldn't expect to see elk you might hit the jack pot! As far as cameras go never had one stolen there but expect people to see it on a water hole unless it's hidden good. We have a cabin in 22 north so over the years I have worked my way back down south of cabin in search of deer and seen way more elk then deer that time of year. Congrats on the tag and pm me if you need any help.
Flatlander79 Report post Posted April 11, 2013 Had that tag a couple of years ago, its a fun hunt. I will be down there this year with a rifle at the end of November. Good luck to your son. FYI dont use those cheap Traditions muzzy scopes they bump off zero on every shot with a .50 cal. (At least the one I had did).

Will K Report post Posted April 14, 2013 My son just turned19 and has never killed a elk. Hopefully i can get him on a decent bull.
bvanetten Report post Posted April 15, 2013 The wife drew this tag and got a nice bull last year. I also had a camera stolen last year off of a tank in this unit. My wife's requirements for hunting is she won't kill a female, they are to pretty. And it has to be tee shirt weather. So that limits the hunts quite a bit as she is not interested in archery. This might piss a few of you off but... she drew this tag again this year. Unfriggin believable! She has put in for elk three times in her life and drew this tag twice back to back. Feeling guilty and not wanting to bring on any bad elk hunting juju, she has decided to give her tag to our youngest son (he's 13). This will be his first bull hunt.
