Any other lucky 23N Early Archery Bull tag Holders here?

Recommended Posts

As justin said my dad and i both drew the tag off 4 bp, and we are out of tucson. Haven't elk hunted before. Anybody know any good areas in the unit?

Throw a dart at a map of the unit, make sure you can access it, and you're good to go.

Yep elk are everywhere in the unit. It would be tough not to drive down any road and not hear a bugle in the peak of the rut. Pretty neat with only 15 tags. Congrats!

. What size bulls have come out of there in the past few years?

It's one of the better units for big bulls. But, like any unit, you will have to work hard and be patient to find the big bruisers.

Some guy on one of the forums, it may have been this one, drew the early rifle tag in there last year. It was his first elk hunt and he went it alone. He obviously didn't know what he had because he shot a 250-260ish six by six on opening day. He was thrilled to death, and any bull is a trophy, but the unit has a lot more potential than that.

I think it's kind of sad when random people that don't know what's going on and put in and get drawn for tags like 23N, 9, 27, 10, 1.They don't know what they have and kill a bull that they could have killed in any unit in the state. I know he was happy to kill it and some of you say that's all that matters is getting one but seriously? Go put in for a late tag or something if you want 250" bulls.

Has anybody on here started scouting for this hunt? I was stumbling around in the unit this weekend and saw a few trail cams and was wondering if it was anybody from here with this hunt or if it's somebody in late or a bear hunter?

Why would you want experienced hunter's as your competition? I would invite the newbies to draw the coveted tags, in your case, increasing your chances at the big ones! I'm not trying to put you on blast but I seem to read quite a few negative remarks, almost know it all type remarks. Show your a true sportsman and offer knowledge, not nonsense. Many Blessings on a stud bull for a great tag

At what point are you going to grow up? Why do you care who draws what tag? Its called hunting for a reason, and many many people love to do it no matter what unit or hunt they draw. The very very sad part is all you care about is killing a 400 inch bull. Fine and dandy for you youngster. But there is a lot more to life than putting a 350 plus bull on the wall. God blesses us all to hunt and put good meat in the freezer and allows us to hunt his animals. I truly hope you realize that soon. I am sure we will see you around

+1..

What happened to the purpose of hunting was to put food on the table and to enjoy the memories with your friends and family as well as making new friends! I don't trophy hunt and never will. If I had this tag I would enjoy my time with family and shoot whatever. You can trophy hunt all you want bc777 but don't get ur panties in a knot on what others do. You seem do be very opinionated.
