Couple of Days in the Hills

Recommended Posts

Had the opportunity to get out in the hills for a couple of days.

Dish water was frozen solid on Monday morning, turkey were gobbling as the sun came up and the coyotes were letting us know they knew we were around.

The day was absolutely beautiful as was the following several days.

First day finds.

My favorite hiking partner with her find of the 3rd day. We had hiked all day long she had come up with nothing. We get 200 yards from the truck to end the day and she finds this cute little white tail antler. Totally made her day.

My only brown of the trip but most important was the great time I had with my wife and boys. I love getting out there seeing the great things our great Arizona has to see.

Last, the two freak bucks side by side.

After all these years of chasing that buck, that must have been a bitter sweet find. Glad he ended up in your hands, that's one unique deer.

Congratulations on finding your buck... As mentioned above, I'm sure its bitter-sweet. Finding his skull and immortalizing on a mantel or wall will give the buck the respect he deserves (better than under a log somewhere for coyotes to gnaw on).

Oh man. My heart sank when I saw that flyer attached to a skull. That SUCKS. That no good buddy of yours should give you the sheds now ;)

I can't ask for the sheds, in both cases young kids found the sheds and I would never ask them to give them up. I know what it is like to find a shed and it doesn't happen every day.

I feel fortunate that the finder of the skull gave it too me so I have my pictures and I have the skull, all is good.

knowing the full story, I agree with you 100%. Very nice of the finder to let you have that skull. Still sucks he's dead.

After I recived the gift of the skull I sat around the campfire visiting with family and friends........and it does suck he is dead.

He really doesn't have that wide of a spread, his left side is useless as far as scoring goes.

But that right side makes him one of a kind...........can't wait to check my trail cam in a few weeks to see if something new shows up for me to start obsessing all over again.
