SpeedGoat Report post Posted June 25, 2013 As Heat said it helps a lot if you hunt close to home. My pals all wanted to help and I couldn't keep the guys that live close away from scouting. Daddy told me when I was a kid, "The hard part is getting drawn, it ain't hard finding sheep, it's hard finding the one you want." God bless his soul, he was right on all accounts. 2012 was my luckiest year on record, drew an awesome tag and harvested an awesome ram that I am proud of. I had 11points and I can see the mountain I killed on from my back porch. IF you draw the tag, the most important thing is to find one of those stinkers that you are happy with and proud of, after all, you are the one that has to live with him the rest of your life, hanging as close to your bed as the missus will allow. REDRAM, REDRAM, REDRAM!!!! Yes I am obsessed with the red rams. DP

SirRoyal Report post Posted June 25, 2013 Sir Royal, Your antelope is no slouch either! What did that score? Sorry, Marvin didn't see your post. That's a buck my dad killed in 19b. He had a broken tip on his left side which kept him out of the record book! He is 17". We actually glassed this buck and followed him all day . My poor dad had to put up with me all that time. I was pushing him real hard. We had had 7 missed opportunities and a broken set of eyeglasses. Finally at the end of the day I glassed this buck with 40 does in a basin 400 yards across the bowl . I said the only way your gonna kill that buck is for someone to shot and spook him to us. About that time a shot went off and here they come at a dead run, they ran by us at 40 yards . It definitely was Divine Intervention because dad picked out the buck a midst all those does on a dead run and dropped him,
