3rd choice

When was the last time anyone has drawn a 3rd choice. Reason I'm asking is because I drew a unit 1 archery bull tag last year and spent all my bonus points. So this year i went with bull tags 1st and 2nd choice and threw in a rifle cow for my 3rd. My card was hit and I was wondering if it's likely I got the cow tag. I usually only put in for bull hunts with my 1st and 2nd and never added a 3rd.

It depends on the rifle cow tag. If it's a limited op hunt, then its very likely. If it is a regular cow hunt, then almost no chance whatsoever unless someone made a big mistake.

I drew a limited opp cow hunt on my 3rd choice in 2001.

Well that makes me feel better because the 3rd choice was a unit 1 rifle cow.

Ive drawn my 5th choice as recently as three years ago. I always put in all 5 choices as a sort of superstition, sometimes it helps.

Was your 5th choice a limited opportunity hunt?

My dad drew a cow tag last year on his 4thporch choice. Weird thing was the hunt he got drawn for only had 76% draw odds.

I drew a limited opportunity cow elk tag last year on my 5th choice but there were three leftover tags so it makes sense.

I drew a late Dec cow tag in 5B-S in 2008 and 2010. They were both my 3rd choice those years. This was not a limited hunt. 2010 was the last year they offered the Dec cow hunt in that unit

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you drew a archery bull tag unless your rifle cow tag was limited opportunity

+1 I've heard a lot of 4th and 5th choice conspiracies where guys claim to draw early rifle tags on 4th choice etc, but I don't believe them, if the tag was undersubscribed last year, then I wouldn't put it as a 4th or 5th choice unless you wanna burn your points, other then that, if theres applicants that put it as 1st or 2nd and all the tags get burned up, you WILL NOT draw on your 3rd 4th or 5th choice.

So yesterday I looked at me application and the unit 1cow hunt that I put in for and there was 1255 1st and 2nd choice applicants for 300 tags in that hunt. So I'm thinking it's got to be a bull. 11 years with out a tag and now back to back. I'm feeling really lucky right now. My kids have been putting in for 6 years with out a junior tag.
