archery hunting in McDowell Sonoroan Preserve

Recommended Posts

In today's Arizona Republic there is an article regarding archery hunting in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. At the end of the article, they are requesting that people vote on whether or not hunting should be allowed. It is our time to vote. I hope that all who read this do take a few moments to vote. Go to the Valley and State section of the Republic and read the article, then vote. Thanks to all who do, you are helping to let the non hunting public understand our passion and rights to hunt. BPJ

Here's the link. Poll is on the left side of the article.

My comment at the bottom of the article:

Archery hunters, who are usually within less than 75 yards of their target, pose little danger to any humans, including hikers. In fact, I cannot recall one person who has ever been injured by a hunter-propelled arrow over the 50-plus years I've lived in AZ. And since hunters are also taxpayers, they have as much right to use public land as anyone else does. Lastly, the AZ Game & Fish Department regulates hunting using sound SCIENTIFIC management techniques. If hunting negatively affected the well being of deer or javelina populations, the department would take the steps necessary to correct it, just as it does across the entire state.

Thanks for posting Tony. I hope more do so today. The McDowell commissioners are not very hunter friendly and there is pressure from the folks who do not like the great unwashed masses pursuing archery hunts on "their" lands....even though they are public lands...BPJ

I don't hunt Mcdowell. Don't even know where it is. I live in Tucson. IS there a way to vote from here, or by proxy, to help out the hunters up there?

news.central.com is web site, poll is on right bottom corner of page when you pull it up. Please let all your friends know to vote NO second option on poll. Deer and javelina herds stable. Been to preserve a few times. Tony's write up is right on the money. Let your voice be heard--vote NO.

Voted....thanks for the heads-up John and the link Tony. I had a difficult time accessing the poll since it said I had to enable cookies to view anything on azcentral.com. Changed a bunch of settings and took forever to make it work, but finally got to it by not clicking the link and going to azcentral.com directly. Then I used search box on the azcentral.com website to search for McDowell and it pulled up the article....not sure why it was so difficult for me, but I am posting this in case anyone else is having trouble....
