jeffcros Report post Posted March 4, 2013 I had set up a trail cam near Artesia NM and found some hogs. Made a short 45 minute stalk and got within 40 yards on a small group of hogs. I am shooting a 17 HMR. After watchoing the pigs for a while the largest pig offered a good behind the ear shot so I took it. Hog folded up and never took a step. I walk closer and the other came out of the brush wondering what was going on and with another head shot the second was on teh ground without a step. Now standing within a few feet of both hogs I watch as piglets run around nervously. I remember talking to the game wardens about hogs and they had told me that they would like to irradicate all hogs if possible. I took aim and dropped one of the bigger pigglets as they ran by. I could have shot a few more but I had a lot of work ahead of me and not much time before dark. There are alot of people here that know there are hogs here biut not many shooting them. Just goes to show that a little scouting and putting some time in you can have a great DIY hunt. Here are a few pictures. There are two bobcats in the last photo, thought that was pretty neat to see,
