azcouesandelk Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Well I went down to 36b this weekend for my first scouting trip. I did ok but not great. I was able to locat around 25 deer and 4 were bucks. None of the bucks were larger than forks though. Here are some pics for you to enjoy. The first 2 pics is the view from my glassing position. This is the picture of the biggest buck, but it is still hard to pic out the antlers. This is a picture of 2 does feeding on a hill behind where I was glassing. This is a picture of a skylined doe and I thought it was a neat picture. This is a pic of a doe that was 780 yards away (based on the rangefiner) This last pic is of a creature that I dislike strongly and saw to many of this weekend. Hope everybody enjoys. stanley Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Great pics Christian! Thanks for sharing. I was down in 36A yesterday scouting with my son for his November junior hunt. We didn't see as many deer as you, but we got a good look at some nice country. We've not spent much time in 'A', so it was more of a 'get the lay of the land' trip. Nice & green down there! S. azcouesandelk Report post Posted August 28, 2006 First scouting trip and you already found some bucks Sounds like your going to have a heck of a hunt I was hoping to find some larger bucks based on some of the sheds I have found in the past in that area. Also the cattle have it pretty bear up. I am hoping that my dad and I have an awesome 2 hunts. My dad has the October tag and I have the November tag. Stanley I could not believe how green it was down there. Also on Friday night we got a heck of a storm. It was awesome, there were some winds that were wanting to tip our trailer and rain that was coming down horizontal it was what I love about Arizona.
shortpants Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Great pics! Don't get discouraged yet, like you said it was the first scouting trip. If they were that easy to find it would'nt be hunting. The harder you hunt the bigger the reward! (reward has nothing to do with antler size.)
az4life Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Younghunter If you saw that many deer in that one spot, I think you did pretty good. That doe at 780yds is a pretty good picture considering the distance. What camera set-up are you using?
azcouesandelk Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Well to tell you honestly I was just putting my old digital in the eyepiece of my binos and snapping photos. It is the only good one through my binos out of about 100 pics. I also just spent most of my money on a digiscope setup so my next couple scouting trips should have some top notch pics hopefully. I also forgot to mention that I was at 3 different glassing points throughout the weekend and found 12 deer from the one I posted pics of. 2 were bucks outta the 12. I was reading through the reply's still twitchin' from the shock of horror I received when I scrolled through Christian's pic's ending with that dreadful sight! I really don't like critters with more than four legs.....less than four are OK....but more....stay away from me! JIM>
azcouesandelk Report post Posted August 29, 2006 The tarantuala I took the picture of actually crawled on my pant leg while I was glassing and I freaked out. I hate spiders and snakes. Especially tarantulas and rattlesnakes.

Especially tarantulas and rattlesnakes. dang......i didn't need to hear that right before i go to bed. I had the same thing happen to me Antelope hunting in 10 a few years ago. It was a smaller 8-legged hairy freak that climbed into my lap though....he's no longer with us. I remember that day everytime I see one or even when I hear the name, now I will dream about it. THANKS, jim. OH, and Shortypants...don't get any ideas now that my phobia's are out in the open. You find one of them "bugs" and mess with me......I'll tell everyone how you REALLY got your name

COOSEFAN Report post Posted August 30, 2006 It's funny you mentioned about me sreamin' like a school girl.....my wife just yelled at me to find out what the cats were going so crazy for by the kithen table......it was a damned SCORPION.......guess what I did. My wife is still laughing at me for screaming.......and for making HER catch it and kill it. It probably didn't help that I showed her Shortypants' reply either. azcouesandelk Report post Posted August 30, 2006 I hate those things with a passion I would have jumped back and screamed also I am sure. Either that or shoot it with my .460 or .280 either way would work.
