Is the hype over AR's finally calming down?

Recommended Posts

So I was looking at prices of AR's online and it seems to me that the prices are coming down as well as the number for sale going up. Is the hype winding down, or do you think it will pick up again? Prices I found were $1,000 shipped for a brand new DPMS, $1250 for a custom painted Bushmaster shot less than 50 rounds, etc. Did I just get lucky on finding these prices? Just curious as to what you all think?

Now if the hoarding of ammo would stop. What are all of these people going to do with all of the .22 ammo stacked in their garage?

Those prices are still above pre-craziness prices but are atleast somewhat realistic. Like ThomC said, now the problem is Ammo and mags still!

I bought 2k primers a few years ago when I could actually find them (thats just small ones for the AR), I have about 900 or more Gold Metal Match 215's for my bigger rifles as well.

I was talking with the guy at the sporting goods counter at my local wally word. He said that they are still getting the ar's in regularly. The problem is that the same few guys are going the store 5-6 times a day to try and catch the rifles when they are placed for sale. They are not lasting an hour, some selling as fast as 15min. The same group of guys have bought multiple ars. They are not shy about what they do with them either. They will say straight out that they are holding on to a few for later and the rest end up on backpage etc. Too bad for all of us who want one to actually shoot it!

Prices are coming down because they realize people wont pay those stupid prices

Free market......it's a beautiful thing. Just know that as prices fall, availability will decrease. It's the way things SHOULD for everything work, if left to their own devices.

I predict the mags from Magpul, in short term being easier to get. I ordered 10 from them on a special offer and they should be in my mail box tomorrow. But, with the bills passing in Colorado, and if they stick to their word they will be closing their doors and heading out!

Any one who supports them and their products PLEASE email, call, fax, write a letter, send carrier pigeions, smoke signals, sign language, etc etc to get them to come to AZ! They would be a fantastic company for our state!

Those prices are still on the high side. Just like everyone above me said the ammo hoarding is a little out of control. I got a little lucky with ammo last night at a local walmart. I picked me up some Winchester .223, 9mm and some CCI mini mag .22. I was very surprised to see it on the shelf.

The person working sporting goods told me the warehouse is sending them a certain amount of ammo each week and its always different. She also said they are down-sizing on the ammo shipments because they are splitting the ammo between each store to accommodate each store with something.

Last night she said she only got 10 - boxes of 50rds CCI mini mags, 2 - Value Pack 100rd Winchester 9mm, 1 - Box Winchester Value Pack 40rd .223, 2 - Boxes Winchester .45 and a whole lot of 12ga shells.
