Digital camera for still photos

I want to buy a good, compact, durable, decent quality camera to carry in my saddlebags. Any suggestions?

the sony HX30 at around $320 is by far the best compact digital I have seen for the field in a last few years... Newest cmos tech, high resolution imaging with a 20x optical and new 40x clear image zoom out performs many digital Slr's that sell for 2 - 3 times more...

Looks like, at least through Walmart.com ... for 319 ... if your store does not stock it you can have delivered to store and pick up for free

just so you can see some pics ... my sister took these a few weeks back with her hx30 ... the deer were over 400 yards away ad the hawk was close to 250 yrds
