You would be surprised and the number of anti-hunters in positions of authority in the FS now. They don't want hunters, cattle, logging or people in "their" forests, despite the fact that these are the groups that have been stewards of the land for generations.

usnf patsy- treehugger - sure there are a few who are tearing up the roads but to lay all the blame at the G&F door and hunters is pure horsecrap.

Perhaps the goal was to over push knowing this would be challenged... then give back a little... to end up where they wanted. I'm watching the few lawsuits going on across the country. They could have a huge impact on the outcome of this. I hope it gets pulled back a bit. Frankly I think we do have to many roads but this TMP is rediculous.

 

On the other hand... I think they should should issue VERY expensive tickets for any vehicle caught off an established road. I'd also like to see tighter noise control. ( I realize I'm sounding like a grumpy old man )

I hate to be one of the bad guys but I agree with too many roads. It really is awful in AZ. I go out on my Mules and get to riding in some beautiful country thinking man I could hunt this area with no one around and , OH wait there's a water hole too, Man this is it,,,,,Nope there is a road going right to the water hole with 3 trucks parked on it. 1 mile later another road to a water hole 1 mile later yep another road to a water hole. Very lame in my opinion but I don't believe it is hunters or GF to blame soley, its every one including ranchers, campers, hikers, offroaders. The closed roads everyone was mad about earlier this year did next to nothing, and the roads closed didn't stop alot of folks from going down them anyway because all they did was put a little yellow sticker on the road sign. Just think how nice it would be to be hiking along tracking deer sign and not walk up to a road with 3 rangers headed down it with other hunters. Just my 2 cents

Thank God for Mountainous Wilderness areas that are devoid of quad riding road hunters. I know it is an industry within itself but when I can hear hunters on quads for 10 minutes heading in my direction then going past me while I see the very game they are looking for hunker down I just don't get it. My personal thought about anyone who is physically fit and owns a quad and drives the roads is they need to be take up bowling.

 

I'd love to see a law passed that during hunting season if you have a tag and a license you cannot use a quad unless you get a special use permit because of a physical disability. Quads promote laziness and encourage road hunting.

 

My son and I watched a father and son on a JR Javelina hunt a couple of weeks ago as they drove into an area in 16A (red quad) first thing Sunday Morning. About an hour or so later they drove back out and continued further down the road for another 10 minutes or so, riding tandem.

So tell me, What was the point of that? I saw lots of fresh tracks an doubt "Dad" even knew what was going on.

 

Buy some boots and wear out the soles.
