How to get close enough...

I have heard that the best was to get close and have the deer not hear you or smell you is to take off yours shoes and rub cow crap all over you to block your scent! is it effective or no..

check sportsmans they have some cool slippers that you can place over you boots keeps the cactus out of your toes and they are quiet.I dont know about cow poop. I usually pee all over the ground and roll in it and then blow my elk bugle. :Dthe deer think you are an elk it works everytime

Actually, your feet arent the problem areas..........you have to use the cow pies as cover scent under yer arms and in yer crotch. They aren't scared of cows, so it works.

while you are at it, make sure you chew on some cow pie to cover the smell of your breath....

That is kinda like putting on some body spray after you been to the gym... You now smell like body spray and SWEAT... the human scent is still there... As far as noise I does muffle the sound alot.

I take off my shoes and put on an extra pair of socks when I am with in 150 yards. I only use the wind for scent control. The deer and my hunting buddies get to smell the real me. Bowhunter12 may I suggest two books to read. These are the only books that I know of that actually tell about western bow hunting. Both are by Dwight Schuh and they are dated, but still have valuable information on Western bow hunting. Hunting Open Country Mule Deer and The Bow Hunting Encycyclopedia. I reread these books every year and have learned alot.
