American Sniper

Recommended Posts

Chris Kyle, the deadliest sniper in USA military history and author of the Book Americsn Sniper, was killed by a Soldier at a firing range today. I just bought the audio book last week and have been listening to it while driving to and from work. First hand accounts of the brutality of war. He survived some crazy stuff in Iraq only to be killed by a guy who suffered from war induced mental issues.

I read the book to what a shame. Didn't see that it was another solder that killed him but if so feel bad for him as well my bro is one that suffers from stuff from the corps and when we talked to someone about getting him help they said he is ours for one more month then not our problem. So much training on war but none on how to deal with it. But Kyle never thoght he would die in the states. Gods speed Kyle and feel bad for his wife an kids

What a shame. Another widow maker incident. Feel terrible for his wife and kids.

A 2100 yard shot. The man had some skill for sure.

If you havent read his book Find it he was the best there ever was he really saved alot of lives over there and never looked back. He was and will always be a hero.

So very sad.

I read this about him and I think it speaks to what a class act he was:

“In a February 2012 interview with NBC News, Kyle said he didn’t want to put the number of kills in the book but the publisher insisted. “If I could figure out the number of people I saved, that’s something I would brag about,” he told NBC News' Lester Holt.”

He was still trying to do good and help his fellow vets to the end.

I’ll be buying the book (or like DB, the audio book to listen to on the commute).

I'll have to disagree with you on this one. I served at Desert Shield and Desert Storm, after I came back I volunteered at VA Hospital as a Counselor, whether the guy who killed Chris was a hero or not is up for a debate but not a single Iraqi Campaign Vet I worked with would have pulled the trigger on a true American Hero. I am not up to sharing what I lived and heard from the other Vets but there is a strict distinction between being a hero and mentally unstable. Perhaps we will never know what was going through the mind of the killer, perhaps we will. Nonetheless, this post is not about the killer but it is about a True American Hero and Patriot we lost.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Kyle's family. He was indeed a true American hero, and I hope his legacy will inspire more like him. I know nothing about his shooter, but I imagine he was suffering. It's just like Kyle to take this guy under his wing. How very sad that it turned out this way.
