CouesBuckhunter Report post Posted February 2, 2013 Yesterday was the end of the archery deer season so today I was able to make it out calling. By the time I was done with school work it was getting late so I knew I wouldnt have much time to call my favorite fox spot. So I get to the area and begin my hike up and over the mountain. The first stand was perfect, set-up couldnt have been any better. There was absolutely no wind at all. I snuck down the hill to set the foxpro up and once down there a herd of javies decided they were gonna head my way. They finally eased off and I began to call, nothing. So I around the hill a ways and found another great set up. It was getting dark but I knew the spot was great. So I began calling, 5 min in I spotted a bob coming my way 200yrds out then he disappeared. I returned my focus to the land in front of my caller. ANother 5min and I hear rocks crash off a cliff. The bob was back again now 100yrds out, but he hung up and sat down. Right then I noticed a fox coming from my left to my right just in front of the cat. He started to head away from me. I switched to a rodent distress and got his attention but he stayed hung up. Quickly thinking I switched to grey fox distress. Now that put a fire under his butt. He came hauling butt. He was closing the distance fast. I knew the hill by my caller rolled good enough at about 30yrds from me that I could draw back without getting caught so I waited until he entered that zone. I was back for about 35sec until he popped up at about 12yrds. He was facing me and he wasnt indicating that he was coiming any closer to the caller so I put my top pin on him and let one fly. He had ducked the shot so instead of hitting him in the chest it hit him through the eye. Sorry for the bloody pics, I didnt have alot of time to clean him up for pictures because I was miles from the road and it was getting pretty dark
trophyhnter Report post Posted February 2, 2013 Cool pic! You could have written the story to read that following your motto of "aim small miss small", at 12 yards you took aim at the foxes eye and drilled him! I would have believed it! Thanks for sharing! Keep the pics coming
