How often do you guys scout? Do you know the area very well? I love it and know the area pretty well. What area of this unit do you guys like best? Seen any monsters? Taken any monsters? If so, how big?

Don't feel scared to reply any questions,

Creed,

My first coues hunt was south of Apache. Didn't know much about the coues, but the friend I was hunting with said that if you can see antlers, it's a good one. First morning after 5" of rain two days before, I shot a 97" buck :) at the head of a swollen creek.

My friend and I then started to hunt the southern end of the Chiricauhas, where we got bucks of 72, 82, 83 95, & 95" over a period of 5 years. The last year I hunted there, I had the crosshairs all over a buck, told to be about 115", but got the adrenalin fever so bad they're still mining for lead in the hillside.

All of these hunts were in the late 80's and early 90's.

Hey, I've hunted 30a for the first time last year and loved it. I saw quite a few nice bucks. All were healthy and really smart. Cant wait to go back.

I have a friend who lived there for many years. His father was a forest ranger there and still lives there today. My friend has taken a few nice bucks out of 29. He say's the Rucker Canyon (towards John Long Canyon) holds some sweet toads. Be aware of the ranchers, he say's they try to play some tricks about Private Property here and there! They are FULL OF IT! Gather up your info and talk to the Forest Service on Lesley Canyon Road. He doesn't recomend 30A for whitetail.

I've hunted both units, mainly when they were combined years ago. We killed nice bucks in the December hunts in Unit 29, mostly after Christmas. 30A always seems too conjested. With limited access everyone gravatates to the access points and it becomes combat hunting. Unit 29 had alot of hunters, but it had more country to cover.

Craig.
