All that can go bad did but works out great

Recommended Posts

This all started july 2011 when my wife and best hunting buddy found out she was going to have our second child. She manned up and hunted that year with me the best that she could bing 6 mo. along. So just afterr having the baby it was time to put in for the draw agan. she didn't want to go "at first". But when I found out I got my first choice she got "the bug" to go. So she got a left over tag for the area where we live. Tada same time DIFFERENT unit then where I was going to be. All i could think was should I be happy or should I let her. Well any smart married man will say her. We worked it out I would take the first 3 days and I would help her the rest. Game day. Woke up to high winds I saw 1 little buck. I passed it up and got so much crap for it. Day 2 wind, rain, snow and more wind I saw 1 that morning but couldent get the water off the glass to see what it was. That afterr noon got up a little 3x3 and a nice heavy 3x3 I chocked and missed. GOT CRAP for missing that shot. Next morning dad came up to hunt told where we had been what we saw (dad has hunted the same unit from 1973 til now and knows every rock where we hunt) he says lets go back. Ok weather is awsome I get 30 min form truck and there he is just about 175 yards or so. One shot he goes downpost-5984-0-58265000-1359611747.jpg

So on the way home I call and tell her to get her things ready. The next morning we set out to her unit. 45 min after sun up we have three bucks spotted she takes the shot it was a miss. We try to find them after they topped the ridge can't. We set out to find a different spot to get out and hike and maybe find the deer. Stopped and asked one family of hunters(he is a member on here) they gave us good info well we struck out. Day 2 of her hunt saw deer no bucks but got a flat, next morning tire shop then on our way. getting into the area see some deer go to put stock on them they hop over fince with NO HUNTING signs on it. get going agan nice 65 to 70 inch bucks jumps in the middle of the road on us, cant do anything (both are funny but not when you have the tag) I guess. Next and last day go up to where we saw the bucks on the first day tada another flat tire. I tell the boss to get off the raod and glass the hill where the bucks where and I no sooner get the jack out and hear got a big buck out there. Well he moves off into the shadows befor we can do anything. then from under the truck I can see him topping over with 5 or 6 more so we move on them and couldent find the big one but found a 2x2 and couldent be prouder to call her my wife and hunting buddy.

Thank you. She had never even hunted or even held a gun until 3 years ago. Now she handles one like an old pro. And we did get a half set of tires for free. I have ever been so happy for anyone afterr a kill then I was with her.
