Bisbee Report post Posted January 30, 2013 I hunted Coues this fall in a unit that also has Antelope. I have hunted this unit maybe ten times before. I was amazed at how many fawns there were. It seems that the fawn survival had doubled. I'm thinking that the night hunting of coyotes probably played a big part. Thank you Arizona Game and Fish and coyote hunters. JLW Report post Posted January 30, 2013 I'd love to be a reason for a rise in coues deer, but I can't get a yoter to come in to my calls to save my life! But I did have a four pack ruin a stalk on a big mulie buck. So theres that... 90% is in the set up......... another factor is call shy "edjumacated yotes" I've had yotes come in when the call sounded crappy... ie. bent or split reed or just plain bad callin. when you find some that haven't been called they will come. good to here the fawns are increasing down there. McGeehunter Report post Posted February 1, 2013 Smoked this dude at thirty yards the other day after he screwed up my Muley hunt. They have probably screwed up 4 or 5 of my hunts this year. Now that archery deer is over its time to decrease the yote population!

rancilio Report post Posted February 2, 2013 How are you getting the dogs to come in? Calling? Baiting? Setting up in the right spot? Thanks.
McGeehunter Report post Posted February 3, 2013 Callin usually but that one in the picture came in when I was set up on some Muleys and they took off. They were 15 to 30 yrds away from me then he decided to join the party and spook em off. Soooo I decided to dispatch him. But usually callin em in works best for me. We get quite a lot of fox comin in too where we call. Good times. With the calls you definately need to find out which ones gonna work in ur area. Fawn in distress works pretty good or jackrabbit seems to work well too. Good luck on the Yote hunts!
