Arizona leads the all-time series against ASU in football (47-37-1), Men's Basketball (140-74), Softball (97-85) and Baseball (226-193-1). ASU leads the series in Women's Basketball (46.5-25.5). Volleyball (40-40) is currently tied.

Yup, fear the spork.

Hughes come on now, you really had to go back to 1899 when it was UofA vs Tempe Normal College? Just because your old butt can remember back that far doesn't mean it is relevant. ASU leads the all time series against the Pussy Cats 30-24. And more importantly, we beat you last year.

That's a cool story and all but ASU has the territorial cup. And Graham is now 1 and 0 over Rich Rod. 41 to 34. I guess I would have a short memory too if it was reversed.

UofA won the Territorial Cup last year, and the win today kept the trophy in Tucson. I believe the final score for the Teritorial Cup this year was UofA 9.5 to ASU 8.5. Last year the score was UofA 12.5 to ASU 5.5.

I think you need to read your own link. The territorial cup itself goes only to the winning football team. The name of the series is just that... a name. Cool concept nonetheless.

But to clarify, the trophy is at ASU because of their football victory. Right where it belongs.

Flatlander and other biased fans of ASU football (U of A fans are just as guilty of twisting the facts in their favor) often claim the U of A leads the series in football because they regularly bet up on the lowly Tempe Normal School. It makes them feel good and justifies the losing record, but it just is not true. The U of A leads the all-time series 47-38-1. When you take out the Tempe Normal Games, U of A leads the series 43-37-1.

Prior to 1931 the two schools were not in the same conference because they were not comparable. In 1931 they both joined the Boarder Interscholastic Athletic Association, better known as thr Boarder Conference. This was the beginning of a schedule that ensured an annual matchup between the two schools. Since that time, U of A leads the series 39-37-1. Below are some facts about the rivalry.

PAC 12 era 2011-2012 ASU 1 UA 1;

PAC 10 era 1978-2010 ASU 14 UA 19 and 1tie;

WAC era 1962-1977 ASU 13 UA 3;

Boarder conference era 1931-1961. ASU 9 UA 16;

Total in era of conference play. ASU 37 UA 39 and 1tie;

The University of Arizona played Tempe Normal School only 5 times. TNS won 11-2 in 1899, UA won in 1902, 1914, 1915 and 1919 by a combined score of 112-0. There were no other meetings of UA and Tempe Normal School.

The rivalry is a gret one, that I look forward to each year. However, if ASU fans want to brag, they need to limit it to last year or their dominance over the U of A while in the Western Athletic Conference. The rest of the hype is just a bunch of false, revisionist history. Sorry to rain on your parade, but those are the facts.

Pine Donkey,

Arizona State University leads the series. Since ASU became a university in 1958, the sun devils lead the series 30-24-1. That's a fact. UA fans can tout their record over Tempe normal and the college, but as far as Arizona State University goes they lead the series.

My point is how can UA tout victories over Arizona State University prior to 1958 when no such establishment existed? I hold firm with ASU leading the series 30-24-1.

Go Devils!

The point here is that ASU became ASU in 1958. Actually UA went 17-2 against TNS and Arizona State College prior to 1946. Since the seriece became annual ASU leads 36-30 and leads 30-24 since ASU became ASU. UA claims about victories over TNS are a joke and expected Pussy Cat types.
